Curcumin

Use for: Curcumin (from Tumeric) is used for allergic rhinitis, hyperlipidemia, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and osteoarthritis.

Concerns: Curcumin is mostly well tolerated in appropriate doses for short term. There is a report about Curcumin use about hepatic problem, vertigo and gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, flatulence and constipation. Not recommended on pregnancy and lactation.

Bromelain

Use for: Bromelain is a general name for proteolytic enzymes from pineapple stem and fruit. It is used for acute postoperative and post-traumatic conditions of swelling and pain, especially of the dental gums and other body parts. It is also used for allergic rhinitis, smooth muscle relaxation, tendon pain, knee pain, rheumatoid arthritis and mild ulcerative colitis.

Concerns: Bromelain is mostly well tolerated in appropriate doses for up to 1 year, with higher doses for shorter term. Avoid using on pregnancy or lactation. Concomitant consumption with potato or soy may decrease the effect of bromelain.
