Alpha-Lipoic Acid (ALA)

Posted by Stella Jonghee Song on

Alpha- lipoic acid (ALA) has been used for diabetic polyneuropathy and Alzheimer’s disease as potent antioxidant with anti- inflammatory properties.

Its neuroprotective properties and synergistic effects with cholinesterase inhibitors (eg. Aricept) and omega- 3 would be good combination for prevention and slowing progression of Alzheimer’s disease.

Some clinical trials have shown its beneficial effects for diabetes and stroke.

Please consult with health care providers when you consider using alpha- lipoic acid for further information and risks vs benefits of alpha-lipoic acid use on your health condition.
